    Belize, Paradise not Safari away

Every wonder what life would be like if you woke each day in Paradise? I guess I always wondered that but thought that was something only very wealthy people could do or people who saved every dime and retired. One day I thought. One day I'll find a way to do it. I kept saying that to myself. Fate of course did finally take me to Belize as a consultant for a client. At the time I was relatively happy. I had my own business, my friends, hobbies and so on. But when I got to Belize, I was suddenly aware that I had been saying one day, I'll become a diver, one day I'll spend time with peoples from other cultures, one day I will live my life from a place of choice and perpose instead of so many compromises and working to get ahead while paying out most of my hard earned money in overhead. I realized I was almost 50 years old and if not now, when? Would I do it while I still had my health and could enjoy it? Was there some cosmic rule that I had to live a life of need and necessity instead of this life full of joy and peace of mind. I made a few more trips to be sure of my thinking and made the move. It wasn't as easy in many ways but also still better than sitting in my zippy car going 20 miles per hour in heavy traffic from meeting to meeting, job site to office. I knew there was more to life but was stuck. Not by anyone or anything but by my own beliefs. They had do go and though many of my friends thought I was nuts, they usually applauded my courage to go for it.

Now I am 54 and have been living here four years. I do a little real estate and some project management. The country is growing fast so there's a lot of opportunity. I'm not paving Paradise down here. The growth is eminent. I try to build what fits the environment.

I'm not really sure what direction I will go with this blog but a friend talks about doing something every day toward your dreams. I'm living it now. I think everyone could if they give themselves permission. Perhaps you and others who read this will add something of value. I guess I'm hoping thats  the case anyway. Please feel free talk about your own experiences or share insights. I'm glad to answer questions about belize but most information can be found online. I'd prefer people do some of their own research before asking me specific questions. I will post some basic information about Belize just to help people get familiar with this unique and wonderful "New World" so close to the US and so beautiful and unspoiled. Thanks.
